Always been a blogger

I’ve always shared my thoughts. Today, I continue to be inspired by and write about many interests and passions including education, business management, technology and innovation.

Fingers typing

For years, I‘ve written weekly notes and articles for a variety of SMART communications. I would share with staff, customers, prospects and more what I was thinking, doing and learning.

When I first decided to create this blog, I thought I would spend most of my efforts writing about topics that were outside education. After all, I’d been focused on education for a long period of time. For instance, from 2005 through 2009, I wrote more than 60 articles focused on education technology when I was the CEO of SMART Technologies Inc. Some of the articles focused on SMART products but many covered broader issues with titles such as 21st-century students and skills or Transforming teaching and learning.

Getting to the heart of the matter

But an interesting thing happened when I reviewed many of my past articles. First, while times have changed in many school jurisdictions, the fundamentals outlined in the articles remain true today. Second, SMART continues to maintain its leadership position with interactive displays (including interactive whiteboards, flat panels and tables) and offers the hardware, software, content and support that educators around the world value and trust. Finally, the more I read about my past thoughts on educational issues, the more I found myself recommitting to the issues at the heart of education today.

Bottom line, education is in my blood and it is a passion that won’t go away. Expect to hear more from me on important issues and developments.
